On July 15, Minister Satish Jarkiholi visited the Agumbe Ghat area to assess the road development project. The Agumbe Ghat road, which connects the coastal region to the rest of the state, has been a topic of discussion for a long time. Minister Jarkiholi, along with a team of officials, inspected the area and gathered information about the road expansion and safety measures. The road is currently used by mini buses and light vehicles, and the locals use it to access better healthcare and education facilities in the coastal region.

The minister emphasized the need for urgent road widening and safety measures, including the construction of protective walls, to prevent landslides and ensure safe passage of vehicles. He also discussed the proposal for a tunnel road, which has been pending for a long time. The tunnel project has been tendered twice, but no companies have come forward due to the high cost of construction.

Minister Jarkiholi announced that essential repair work will be carried out on the Agumbe Ghat road, which is prone to landslides during the monsoon season. He also mentioned that the road development project falls under the jurisdiction of the forest department and wildlife division, which has been a major hurdle. A high-level meeting will be held in Bengaluru to discuss the project and find a solution.

The minister also discussed the water scarcity issue in the region and stated that the current rainfall is less than expected. However, the water stored so far will be sufficient until June. He also mentioned that over 600 bridges have been constructed in the district to facilitate easy movement of people, and more will be built in the future.
