On Saturday the 23rd State Level Open Karate Championship organised by Bharat Scout & Guides and co‑hosted by Anantaraj College of Physical Education concluded in Mangalore, with M.K. Red Camel Islamic School taking first place in the team category.

Trailing the champions, Diamond International School secured the runner‑up spot while Barira International School of Karkala finished third. The competition also featured a vibrant individual segment where young athletes excelled in their age groups.

Mohammad Mishal Sharif of Chaitanya Public School, Krishnapur emerged as the Under‑14 boys champion. In the Under‑16 boys division Mohammad Shihabuddin from Jamia English High School, Suratkal claimed the top position. The girls’ titles went to the James sisters of St. Savio, Belthangadi – Sinchana James won the Under‑14 category and Sanjana James captured the Under‑16 crown.

Majlis Public School was honoured with the Grand Champion award for overall performance across categories.

The closing ceremony saw former minister K. Abhaychandra Jain preside over the event and hand out medals. Principal M.K. Dhananjaya Shetty of Anantaraj College of Physical Education served as the chief guest. Among the invited dignitaries were Fortune Promoters Partner Abul Ala Puttige, international trainer Swami Prasad Moodbidire, Ullal Taluk Sajipanad Nuria Public School director Abdul Aziz Kunnil, State Karate Teachers Association Vice President Satish, member Ravi Kotyan, Dakshina Kannada District Karate Teachers Association President Dr. Rahul T.G. Mangalore, businessman Arun Kumar Nitte and State Karate Teachers Association President and Shorin Ryu Karate Association chief trainer Mohammad Nadeem. The program was presented by Naveen Amburi.
