On Thursday night, Suratkal police apprehended 8 Bangladeshi nationals who were working on the construction of Srinivasa Hospital in Mukka. The arrested individuals, including Muhammad Mukhtar Ali, Muhammad Rakibur Hussain, and Muhammad Azharul Islam, were detained after a thorough interrogation. According to Mangalore City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy, these individuals had entered India illegally from Bangladesh via Murshidabad, West Bengal, three months ago. They then affixed their photographs to the Aadhaar cards of local residents, obtained color photocopies, and secured construction work in Mukka for the past two months.
Suratkal Police Sub-Inspector Raghu Naik received a tip about the presence of Bangladeshi nationals at the construction site, prompting him to visit the location with a team. Upon inspecting the area, they found 54 people living in tents near the construction site, and upon further investigation, discovered Bangladeshi identity cards belonging to 8 of them. The police subsequently arrested these 8 individuals and brought them to the station for further questioning. The Regional Registration Office of Foreigners was informed, and the individuals will be handed over to them. Commissioner Reddy stated that the arrested individuals had obtained work by presenting fake Aadhaar cards to a contractor, and they will be deported after the legal process is completed.
