Bunts Qatar recently concluded its third annual Karnataka-Based Association Badminton Tournament on May 29, 2026, at the Hamilton International School in Doha, Qatar. The day-long event saw TuluKoota Qatar emerge as champions, following an intense competition that brought together 69 teams from various Karnataka associations.
From 8 am to 10 pm, the tournament fostered camaraderie and healthy living among the expatriate community. Dr. Anees Alyafei, Senior Consultant in Community Medicine, Healthy Lifestyle Specialist, and General Secretary of the Qatar Doctors Association, inaugurated the event. He underscored the vital role of sports and fitness in building a healthier society.
Sixty-nine teams represented TuluKoota Qatar, Karnataka Sangha Qatar, MCC Qatar, Billawas Qatar, and Bunts Qatar. This extensive participation, including executive committee members, players, families, and supporters, established it as one of the largest inter-association badminton tournaments for Karnataka residents in Qatar.
After a series of competitive matches, TuluKoota Qatar secured the Tournament Champions title. Host Bunts Qatar demonstrated strong performance to claim the Runner-Up Trophy, displaying skill and determination throughout the event.
The grand closing ceremony featured Shri Harish Pandey, First Secretary (Education & Culture) at the Embassy of India, as Chief Guest, and Mr. E. P. Abdurahiman, President of ISC Qatar, as Guest of Honour. Ms. Pooja Shenava, Cultural Secretary, delivered the opening address, while Mr. Naveen Shetty, General Secretary, efficiently managed the proceedings as Master of Ceremonies. Vice President Mr. Manoj Shetty extended a warm welcome to guests and dignitaries. President Mr. Sukaram Shetty felicitated the chief guests, acknowledging their support. Ms. Shiny Shetty, Sports Secretary, presented a summary of the tournament's highlights and success. Mr. Damodhar Rai, Special Needs Coordinator, concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all involved.
Bunts Qatar Founder President Dr. Ravi Shetty, along with Advisory Members Mr. Navneeth Shetty, Mr. Deepak Shetty (General Secretary, ICBF), and Dr. Padmashree Shetty, attended the event. Advisory Chairman Mr. Naveen Shetty Iruvail, though abroad, conveyed his best wishes. Organizers recognized sponsors, supporters, and medical partners Naseem Health Care with tokens of appreciation. Trophies and awards were presented to winners, runners-up, and outstanding performers amidst audience applause. Bunts Qatar also acknowledged the BQBA Apex Body officials, referees, umpires, volunteers, sub-committee members, and its own members for their collective effort.
