On Saturday, the Gujarat Police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth nearly Rs 69 lakh in two separate raids conducted in Valsad and Mehsana districts. A total of 14 accused have been booked, and liquor and other property valued at more than Rs 1.09 crore have been recovered. The operations were carried out by the State Monitoring Cell following instructions from Gujarat Director General of Police G.S. Malik to intensify action against illegal liquor and gambling activities. In Valsad district, Police Inspector B.P. Desai and his team raided a vehicle near Kundi Bridge on National Highway 48, seizing 87 cartons of Indian-made beer valued at Rs 9,26,051. Two persons, Ilesh alias Iliyo Patel and Kapil alias Sonu Patel, were arrested. A prohibition offence was registered at Dungri Police Station, and four wanted accused, including alleged supplier Ankur Rani, have been named. In a separate raid in Mehsana district, Police Inspector A.J. Chauhan intercepted a vehicle near Ramdev Hotel, recovering 1,077 cartons of Indian-made beer worth Rs 59,73,198. One person, Hemaram Jat, was arrested, and a case was registered at Kadi Police Station against eight accused, including seven who remain wanted. The State Monitoring Cell is investigating further to trace the remaining accused and establish the wider network involved in the transportation and supply of prohibited liquor.
