Police in Bengaluru arrested Veeresh Kumar, owner of Krupa Healthcare, on September 12, 2026 after a coordinated raid that uncovered a large‑scale counterfeit drug operation.

The Special Investigation Team and the Drugs Control Department seized medicines worth nearly Rs 5 crore from a Krupa Healthcare office and warehouse near Minerva Circle, along with fake invoices, labeling equipment and repackaged drug containers.

Investigators say the network supplied falsified medicines to more than 90 hospitals, clinics and medical shops across the city and surrounding districts. The raid followed a breakthrough on August 18 at a farmhouse in the Bidadi and Dodderi areas of Ramanagara, where authorities first recovered large quantities of suspect drugs.

Simultaneous searches were conducted at over ten locations in six states – Karnataka, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra – targeting the supply chain. Officials also examined Kumar’s residence and other premises linked to him.

Sources indicate that Kumar worked closely with a man named Prashanth, identified as a key accused who remains at large. The two are believed to have collaborated for the past year, using cheaper or expired medicines, repackaging them under different brand names and affixing counterfeit labels that mimicked reputable pharmaceutical companies.

Among the seized items were cancer treatments, life‑saving drugs and intensive‑care injections. Investigators suspect the counterfeit products were sold to the 90+ healthcare establishments at discounts of about 50 percent.

A network of more than 15 medical representatives is under scrutiny for its role in distribution. Samples have been sent to laboratories for analysis, and the suspected batches have been blocked on the Karnataka Food and Drug Administration portal as a precaution.

Authorities hope that Kumar’s arrest will expose the broader financial and logistical framework of the racket, while efforts continue to locate Prashanth and dismantle the remaining links.
