On June 13, in Mangalore, the CCB Police apprehended Shahul Hameed, who had been evading law enforcement for 11 years. The court had previously issued warrants against him in three significant cases, including the murder case. Numerous serious cases, such as kidnapping, extortion, and attempt to murder, have been filed against Hameed. The cases were registered across various police stations, with three in Ullala, one in Mangalore Rural, one in North Police Station, and one in Barke Police Station. One of the cases, an attempted murder charge, alleges that Hameed tried to kill Shasikiran while in jail. Although Hameed was accused of involvement in the murder cases of Narasimha Shettigar and Polali Ananta Murthy, he was later acquitted by the court. The accused had been absconding without attending court proceedings for 11 years, prompting the court to issue several warrants and declarations against him. Mangalore City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy stated that a new case will be filed against Hameed for violating a court order by absconding.
