The Sanskrit festival ‘Shravani’ was staged at R.N. Shetty Composite Pre-University College in Kundapura, drawing students, faculty and invited scholars for a day of lectures, awards and cultural appreciation.
Balakrishna Nakshatri, a Sanskrit lecturer at Kot Vidya Pre-University College, addressed the gathering as a chief guest. He emphasized that a solid foundation in any language begins with a firm grasp of its basics, and that mastering Sanskrit enriches one's overall knowledge.
College principal Navin Kumar Shetty presided over the ceremony, noting that Sanskrit, once the language of the learned elite, is now becoming a popular choice among bright students seeking intellectual depth.
During the event, the college honoured several high‑achieving students. Akshaya, a second‑year PUC student, received special recognition for scoring a perfect hundred marks in Sanskrit in the recent second‑PUC annual examination. Similarly, students who secured full marks in the first‑PUC Sanskrit exam were applauded for their accomplishment.
Ravi Upadhyaya, head of the Sanskrit department, welcomed the guests and introduced the programme. The ceremony’s narration was handled by Aditi Adiga, a commerce student from the second‑PUC batch, while Ananya C. Shetti, a science student of the same year, expressed gratitude on behalf of the participants.
The festival concluded with a reaffirmation of the college’s commitment to promoting Sanskrit studies, reinforcing its role in preserving cultural heritage and fostering academic excellence among coastal Karnataka youth.
