On Monday, July 13, P Rajkumar, the accused in the Rangareddy district murder case, was found dead in Penjerla village, Kothur. A resident of Daivalaguda village in Shabad mandal, Rajkumar had allegedly killed six people, including his wife and two young sons, on July 10. The police had been searching for him since the incident. A poison bottle was found near his body, but it is unclear if he died by suicide.
Rajkumar had been arrested under the POCSO Act for stalking and harassing a 17-year-old girl, who was his neighbor. He was later released on bail. The girl’s mother had filed a complaint against Rajkumar, alleging that he had been harassing her daughter for the past year. Rajkumar had also installed a CCTV camera to monitor the movements of the girl’s family.
After his release from jail, Rajkumar went on a killing spree, stabbing the 17-year-old girl, her mother, and maternal grandmother, as well as his wife, Sarita, and his two young sons. The police recovered the weapon from one of the crime scenes. Rajkumar had called his father and confessed to the crime, following which his father approached the police and informed them about the alleged confession.
Rajkumar’s sister-in-law said that he had been pressuring his wife for a divorce and had threatened to kill her. The case is being investigated by the Future City Police Commissionerate, and the police believe that the murders may have been motivated by Rajkumar’s obsession with the 17-year-old girl.
