On July 10, in Mangaluru, a 24-hour dharna satyagraha by street vendors came to an end, but their protest did not. The demonstrators, who were demanding various concessions including open access to Sunday Bazaar, moved from the main gate of the corporation to the City Corporation Administrator’s office. Their anger was directed at the City Corporation Commissioner who had failed to receive their petition. The protesters insisted on meeting the Deputy Commissioner, but as he was not available, they were promised a meeting with the Additional Deputy Commissioner. B.K. Imtiaz, Honorary President of the D.K. District Street Vendors’ Association, stated that Sunday Bazaar vendors have suffered losses for the past month due to not being allowed to conduct business. He warned that if the Commissioner conducts operations next Sunday without allowing them to trade, they would launch a ‘Jail Bharo’ protest. Sunil Kumar Bajal, Working President of the association, demanded that the Commissioner work according to the law. Various leaders, including Yashwanth Maroli, Yadav Shetty, and Yogita Suvarna, were present at the protest. The protesters were eventually pacified by police officers and Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Raju, who promised to arrange a meeting with the protesters.
