On Friday, Dr. M. Mohan Alva, President of Alva’s Education Foundation, inaugurated the Grand Exhibition and Sale Fair of Jackfruit-Mango and Indigenous Products in Moodbidri, calling for more frequent jackfruit fairs to support rural farmers and manufacturers. The event, organized by Deepam Events and Namma Karla Media at Swarna Mandira, Samaj Mandira, near Moodbidri bus stand, aims to provide a market for quality jackfruit, mangoes, and indigenous products. Consumers can now purchase these products directly from producers, benefiting both parties.

Former minister Abhayachandra Jain, the chief guest, expressed concern that the younger generation is losing touch with rural life and its experiences, including the significance of jackfruit and mangoes. He reminisced about jackfruit being a staple food in his childhood. Other notable attendees included Rashmita Jain, Indu M., Shreepathi Bhat, Sudarshan M., and Suresh Prabhu. Archana Vijay Shetty welcomed the gathering, while Shwetha S. Jain compered the program and Sudha proposed the vote of thanks.

The fair, open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM until July 12, offers a wide range of jackfruit, mangoes, value-added products, and household items under one roof. The event received a positive response from the public on its first day, with many taking advantage of the opportunity to purchase quality products directly from producers.
