On November 8, the United Empowerment Association (UEA) Ullal zone will host a one‑day sports meet for school students from the Ullal region at the Konaje ground of Mangalore University. The event, announced by K.M.K. Manjanady, the association’s honorary president, aims to spark a competitive spirit and uncover athletic talent among youngsters.
Manjanady addressed reporters at a press conference held on Tuesday in the Ullal Press Club, confirming that participation is limited to schools within the Ullal zone. Competitions will be organized for boys and girls across three age brackets – 12, 14 and 16 years – with each entrant allowed to contest up to two individual events, while relay races remain open to all.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for every athlete, ensuring that nutrition does not hinder performance. Registration forms must reach the association by 5 p.m. on November 7, giving officials enough time to finalize line‑ups and logistics.
Key officials present at the briefing included State General Secretary Immiyaz Hajnaj, Ullal Zone President Abdul Rahman Sagar, Mangalore General Secretary Riyaz, Sports Convener Abdul Rahman, and state committee members Imthiyaz Aiza, Shafi Halekote, Ismail Kinya and Dawood Sheikh. Their collective presence underscored the importance the UEA places on nurturing sports at the grassroots level.
The meet promises a vibrant showcase of youthful energy, with track and field events ranging from sprints to jumps. Organisers hope the day will not only award medals but also motivate schools to invest further in physical education, laying a foundation for future athletes from coastal Karnataka.
