The Karnataka State Muslim Federation (KRMO) announced on Thursday its full backing of a protest slated for 10:30 AM on November 5 at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, organised by INDIA alliance parties and allied groups demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and legal action over the removal of thirteen crore voters from the SIR list.

In a statement released earlier this week, KRMO said the federation will extend its support to parallel actions against SIR and the commissioner at district and taluk levels throughout Karnataka. The body accused the ruling party of undermining democratic institutions during its twelve‑year tenure, alleging that politics of religion and caste has eclipsed genuine development concerns such as jobs and economic growth.

According to KRMO, the current administration has weaponised issues like the Mandir‑Masjid dispute, cow slaughter bans, religious conversions and the so‑called love jihad narrative to polarise society. It claimed that minorities, Dalits and progressive voices are being marginalised while opposition parties face destabilisation through financial and political pressure, steering the nation toward authoritarian rule.

The federation warned that tampering with the electoral roll strikes at the very foundation of Indian democracy. It argued that if the right to vote is eroded, the Constitution loses its relevance and the rule of law collapses. KRMO described the upcoming demonstration as a vital moment for young citizens to rise and safeguard democratic values.

Calling on youth, like‑minded citizens and progressive forces, KRMO urged collective action to ensure the protest succeeds and the Constitution remains intact. The organisation highlighted the importance of street‑level participation in defending the country's democratic framework.
