On Tuesday, Udupi district began its special comprehensive revision of the electoral roll, as directed by the State Election Commission. All booth level officers (BLOs) in the district started visiting households to distribute enumeration forms to eligible voters. Udupi District Officer Swaroop T K led the effort, visiting various wards, including Sargi, Kunjibettu, Kadubettu, Paniyadi, and Sri Krishna Math, to distribute the forms and provide information about the process. The aim is to ensure all eligible citizens are included in the electoral roll.
The revision process will continue until July 29. During this time, BLOs will visit households, distribute enumeration forms, and collect filled forms with photographs and signatures. No documents are required to be submitted. The filled forms must have the voter’s signature or thumbprint. One copy will be retained by the BLO, and the other will be given to the voter. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, and claims and objections can be filed from August 5 to September 4. The final electoral roll will be published on October 7.
Udupi District Muslim Okkoota President Mohammed Maula praised the initiative, saying it is essential for all eligible citizens to participate in the process. BLO Promoda explained that voters must fill out both copies of the form, attach a photograph, and sign it. One copy will be submitted to the BLO, and the other will be retained by the voter. Stickers will be used to mark households that have been visited.
