On Thursday, B.Y. Vijayendra, Karnataka BJP State President and MLA, accused the state government of being anti-Hindu and anti-farmer, and threatened to hold protests. Vijayendra made these statements while addressing the media in Haveri. He claimed that the government’s policies have led to an increase in violence against Hindus since the Congress came to power. Vijayendra cited recent incidents, including the attack on Lohith Kurubar and his friends in Haveri, and the murder of Shivaji Rao in Rattehalli. He also mentioned similar incidents in Koppal and Yellapur.

Vijayendra announced that the BJP would stage a large protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on July 17 against the government’s anti-farmer policies. He accused Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of attempting to acquire thousands of acres of agricultural land in Bidadi for a proposed township project. Vijayendra criticized the delay in filling the Agriculture Minister’s post and the government’s response to the distress faced by farmers due to deficient rainfall.

The BJP leader also opposed the proposal to establish Karnataka’s second international airport near Kanakapura, alleging that the decision was driven by real estate interests. He suggested that the airport be developed near Tumakuru instead, arguing that it would benefit central and northern Karnataka. Vijayendra urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to intervene and oppose the State government’s policies, warning that the curse of farmers could bring down the government.
