On August 11, a raid by the Uppal Zone SOT team at Amnan’s Gulf Bakers in Boduppal, Hyderabad, revealed a disturbing picture of food safety violations. The bakery, located on Boduppal Road in Mallikarjun Nagar, was found to be using ammonia powder, artificial colours, and expired food products in its preparations. Abdul Mutallib, the owner of the bakery and a native of Jharkhand, was taken into custody by the police. The preliminary investigation also identified Mustafa, a native of Nirmal, as the bakery manager, who was hired by Mutallib for a monthly salary.

The SOT team seized the expired food materials and cakes found at the premises and handed them over to the Medipally police, who have registered a case and are investigating further. The raid was conducted after the police received a tip-off about the unsafe food practices at the bakery. The use of ammonia powder and artificial colours in food products is a serious concern, and the police action is a step towards ensuring the safety of consumers in the area.
