Coastal Karnataka expatriates in Bahrain, united under Bellevision Bahrain, recently gathered to commemorate Monti Fest, the Nativity Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The community marked the cherished occasion with devotion and fellowship at Naatipuram Restaurant on September 10, 2026, commencing their celebrations at 8:45 p.m.
The evening began with Master of Ceremonies Ashish Menezes extending a warm welcome and introducing the profound significance of Monti Fest. Traditionally observed as the Feast of the Family, this celebration holds deep cultural importance for the Konkani community, emphasizing values of prayer, unity, gratitude, and familial togetherness. Judith Mendonca then led an opening prayer, setting a reverent tone for the proceedings.
The spiritual dimension of the gathering was further enriched by the presence of Fr. Roshan Pereira, OFM Cap., a guest priest in Bahrain, and Fr. Vincent Serrao, Assistant Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, Bahrain. A solemn procession followed, with President Ivan Sequeira carrying the statue of Infant Mother Mary to a beautifully adorned altar. The blessed grain from the first harvest was then offered, symbolizing thanksgiving for divine providence. Children and adults alike participated in a heartfelt tribute, showering fresh flowers on Mother Mary, creating a vibrant display of devotion. Traditional hymns such as 'Sakkad Sangatha Melyan' and 'Moriyek Hogolsiyan' were sung with sincerity, preserving the sacred musical heritage of the feast.
In his presidential address, Ivan Sequeira conveyed festive greetings and prayers for blessings upon all Bellevision members, their families, well-wishers, and loved ones in their homeland. Fr. Roshan Pereira delivered a thoughtful message on the importance of family bonds, resonating with Monti Fest's core theme of love, respect, unity, and mutual support. Following the religious observances, the traditional 'Novem,' prepared by Veera and Vijay, was served, complemented by juice and a delicious homemade cake baked by Naveen Mendonca.
The cultural segment added vibrancy to the festivities. Eliana captivated the audience with a graceful dance, while Rony and Riva performed a melodious duet. Another duet by Riva and Nikitha was equally appreciated. Children enjoyed a series of fun games, including 'Bring Something of a Particular Colour' and a tongue-twister contest, skillfully organized by Ashish, ensuring excitement for the younger attendees.
