On July 23, the Subordinate Legislation Committee of the Karnataka Legislature, led by Tumkur district’s Gubbi MLA S.R. Srinivas, visited Udupi district. The committee members, including T.A. Sharavana and Manjunath Bhandari, met with officials from various departments at the Manipal district panchayat office and discussed several topics.

The committee expressed disappointment over the slow progress of the Belapu Science Research and Postgraduate Study Center, which has been under construction for years. 'We see that the work has been going on for many years, and the people’s tax money is being wasted,' said committee member T.A. Sharavana. 'We will submit a comprehensive report to the Chief Minister about this.'

The committee also suggested alternative uses for the center, such as a sports university or a residential school. The committee members, including S.R. Srinivas, Gurmee Suresh Shetty, and Manjunath Bhandari, later visited the Kapu Mariyamma temple and received the blessings of the deity.
