On Wednesday, Indian Railways launched the beta version of the revamped IRCTC ticket booking portal in Jaipur, aiming to provide a faster and more user-friendly experience for passengers. The new portal, accessible through a beta link on the existing IRCTC website, features a cleaner interface, simplified navigation, and several improvements to enhance the booking process. This redesign is the result of a commitment made by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after interacting with students at the Malaviya National Institute of Technology, who highlighted the existing website’s outdated interface, complicated booking process, and poor user experience. The students’ suggestions were taken on board, and they contributed to the development process, leading to the creation of a more user-friendly platform. The revamped portal introduces several key improvements, including a mobile-friendly design, improved navigation, and the elimination of repeated CAPTCHA verification during bookings. Passengers can now easily check seat availability across different travel classes without having to repeatedly change search options. The portal also offers faster loading speeds and smoother overall performance. Users can submit feedback and suggestions directly through the platform, which will help IRCTC refine the service before its final public launch. The beta version has been released to gather real-time feedback from users, focusing on usability, design, and performance. Alongside the website redesign, IRCTC is upgrading its Passenger Reservation System, the backend engine that powers ticket bookings. The modernisation aims to improve system performance and ensure seamless booking, even during peak demand periods. With an average of 1.45 million ticket bookings daily, the IRCTC website is set to become more efficient and user-friendly, addressing issues such as slow performance and complicated booking processes.
