On June 1, in Mangalore, Karnataka Kickboxing Sports Association President Satyajit Suratkal announced the outstanding performance of IKMA of Mangalore at the Waco India Sub Junior National Level Kickboxing Championship. The event took place at Indore Public School, Madhya Pradesh, from 17th to 21st. At a press conference held at Mangalore Press House on Wednesday, Suratkal revealed that 2 thousand students participated in the championship, with 58 students from the state and 15 students from the district taking part. The district won an impressive 11 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals. Notably, 20 gold medals were won by the state, with 11 of them being secured by the district, setting a historical record.
IKMA athletes also excelled in the Waco India Junior National Kickboxing Championship, held in Odisha from May 30 to June 3, winning 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals. The district players won all seven medals secured by Karnataka State in this championship. The top two athletes will represent the Indian team in the World Championship to be held in Italy. According to Nitin N. Suvarna, head coach of the institute, the athletes were trained by trainer Sampath Kumar. The press conference was attended by IKMA Head Teacher Nitin N. Suvarna, teachers Sampath Kumar, Shivprasad, and fellow teachers Rajesh K, Avni, and Anshi.
