On 22 October 2026 the National Commission for Women (NCW) in New Delhi published a two‑year report card that outlines the programmes and initiatives led by Chairperson Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar during her second year in office.

The commission shared the document on the social platform X, describing it as “A Shared Contribution – the Second‑Year Report of Hon'ble Chairperson Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar”. The narrative highlights key achievements, field engagements and flagship schemes that were rolled out across the country.

Among the initiatives listed are She Is a Changemaker, Campus Calling, Yashoda AI, Shakti Samvad, Shakti Summit, Catalysts for Change, Shakti and Suraksha, and the Nari Shakti Conclave. Each programme aims to bolster institutional capacity, streamline grievance redressal and promote gender‑sensitive governance.

In a Hindi‑language message posted on X to mark the anniversary, Rahatkar reaffirmed her resolve to expand the commission's reach, especially for women facing obstacles in accessing justice. She wrote, “I will strive to ensure that every woman's voice is heard, her rights are protected, and she receives the support needed to obtain justice.” The statement also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Annapurna Devi Ji for entrusting her with the role.

Rahatkar thanked the women who have approached the commission, noting that their experiences shape the body's priorities. She enumerated the major achievements of the past year, emphasizing interventions in safety, justice, awareness and empowerment that spanned multiple states and regions.

The NCW’s release underscores a continued focus on creating a safer, more equitable environment for women throughout India, aligning with the commission's broader mandate.
