On August 15, the 80th Independence Day celebrations concluded with a captivating cultural spectacle at the Ajjarakadu District Stadium in Udupi. Five teams presented songs and dances on various themes, mesmerizing the audience. The participating teams showcased their talents on topics such as environmental conservation, water conservation, cleanliness, and more. The team from Adi Udupi English Medium High School won the first prize, while St. Xavier’s English Medium School, Udyavar, secured the second prize, and Government High School, Valakadu, came in third. Other winners included Udupi Government Girls’ Pre-University College and St. Cecily’s English Medium School, Udupi. The NCC Army, Navy, and Air Wing units from various colleges and schools also participated in the event, with Udupi’s Poornaprajna College NCC Army winning the first prize in the college category.

The best service award was given to several government employees, including Nagendra Naik, Joint Director of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Dr. Chikmagalur, Senior Medical Officer at the Nada Primary Health Center, and Dr. H.N. Sandeep Kumar, Chief Veterinary Officer at the Udyavar Veterinary Hospital. The winners of the painting competition, held as part of the Independence Day celebrations, were also announced. Anvit Shetty, a student of St. Mary’s High School, Kannarpadi, won the first prize, while Shamna from Al-Ihsan High School, Mulur, came in second. The winners of the mask-making competition, organized by the Tourism Department, were also awarded prizes, with Dr. Vijayendra Rao, a dentist from Udupi, winning the first prize.
