On Saturday, B.C. Road in Bantwal taluk witnessed a grand celebration of the country’s 80th Independence Day, with Bantwal Taluk Tahsildar G. Manjunath hoisting the national flag in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha. Manjunath emphasized that freedom entails responsible citizenship and contributing to the nation’s growth. The event, organized by the Bantwal Taluk Administration and the Taluk National Festivals Celebration Committee, drew a large gathering of officials, students, and locals.
Bantwal MLA U. Rajesh Naik presided over the meeting, highlighting the impact of modern technology on the world. He urged students to adapt to the competitive world and find their place in it. Ritvik, a student of Sajipamooda Government High School, delivered the Independence Day message, while Baby Kundar, Jayanthi V. Poojary, and various departmental officials participated in the event.
A notable highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of Manvith, a 5th-grade student from Narikombu Government Senior Primary School, who had recently been praised by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for his bravery in rescuing a midday meal worker from a potential electrical accident. The event also featured an attractive parade and flag salute by teams from the Police Department, Home Guards, and school NCC, Scouts, and Guides. Bantwal Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Sachin Kumar welcomed the gathering, and Field Education Officer Chandrappa B.L. offered a vote of thanks, while Nethrakere School teacher Avinash D’Souza compered the program.
