On Sunday, US President Donald Trump praised the defence agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, calling it a 'big, bold and important first step' towards collective defence. This development comes after the three nations signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement on August 7, which considers any armed attack on one of the signatory countries as an attack on all. Trump expressed his satisfaction with the agreement on Truth Social, stating that it demonstrates the Middle East coming together to defend themselves more effectively. The pact was signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Meanwhile, India is assessing the implications of the Mecca agreement on its national security and regional peace. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated on August 11 that India is examining the agreement from the perspective of national security and regional stability, and will take necessary measures to safeguard its interests.
