On August 17, the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Council sessions will begin, as convened by Governor S Abdul Nazeer. The Legislative Assembly will start at 9 am in the Assembly Hall, Velagapudi, Amaravati, while the Legislative Council will commence at 10 am in the Legislative Council Hall. In preparation for the session, Assembly Speaker C Ayyannapatrudu reviewed the arrangements on Friday, including security measures. Meanwhile, YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed his party legislators to raise issues of public interest, highlighting the alleged failures of the TDP-led coalition government. Reddy emphasized the need to address issues such as alleged irregularities in teacher recruitment, outsourcing scandals, and farmers’ concerns, including the lack of minimum support price for crops and insufficient water supply. With YSRCP holding 32 MLCs in the Legislative Council, Reddy urged his party members to be the voice of the people and highlight these issues. The party’s strength in the Legislative Council is significant, with 32 MLCs out of a total of 58, followed by TDP with 10 MLCs. In the 175-member Legislative Assembly, TDP holds a majority with 135 MLAs, while YSRCP has 11 MLAs. The session is expected to be crucial, with YSRCP legislators prepared to raise key issues and hold the government accountable.
