Brahmavara: A month-long training programme in embroidery and tailoring, aimed at fostering self-employment among women, began at the Rural Development and Self Employment Training (RUD SET) Institute here. Dayanand Kotyan, Udupi District President of the Karnataka State Tailoring Association and owner of Outfit Ladies Tailor, inaugurated the Vastra Chitra Art Light Entrepreneur (Embroidery) course on Monday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kotyan emphasised that the tailoring and embroidery industry offers substantial demand and profitability for women. He argued that seeking financial help from others undermines self-respect, and that self-employment provides both financial security and self-confidence. He urged participants to dedicate themselves fully to the one-month training and become successful entrepreneurs.
Santosh Shetty, Senior Lecturer at RUD SET Institute, presided over the event. He encouraged trainees to learn diligently, share their acquired skills with family members, and contribute to strengthening the local economy. Chaitra K., a lecturer at the institute, delivered the welcome address. Ravi, Senior Office Assistant, proposed the vote of thanks.
The RUD SET Institute, which operates under the Brahmavara development block, focuses on equipping rural youth with vocational skills. This particular course is part of a broader initiative to promote self-reliance among women in coastal Karnataka.
