Udupi police have apprehended two key individuals, Sadananda Devadiga and Kishore Rama Poojary, accused of orchestrating and financing the August 7 shootout targeting Mudarangadi contractor and former gram panchayat president, David D'Souza. These arrests, made on August 15 in Udupi, bring the total number of individuals held in connection with the incident to seven.

The newly arrested, 41-year-old Sadananda Devadiga, resides near Adamaru Math in Bada Ermal village, while 47-year-old Kishore Rama Poojary lives near Uchila Mahalakshmi Temple. Investigators revealed that both men criminally conspired for the murder attempt and provided the necessary financial backing for the act. Authorities seized two mobile phones, a bike, and cash from Sadananda, while three mobile phones and a car were recovered from Kishore Poojary.

The latest arrests follow an intensive investigation that previously led to the apprehension of five others. Initially, police detained Raju, Anmol Rastogi, and Jiahul Sheikh, who were directly involved in the August 7 incident. Subsequent interrogation of Anmol Rastogi and Jiahul Sheikh, coupled with bank account verification, exposed Mohammed Irshad and Chirag Poojary for depositing money to assist the accused, leading to their arrests.

Udupi District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar confirmed the arrests, stating that the accused will be produced before the court. The investigation meticulously analyzed bank account details, mobile and call records, and CCTV footage of all accused to establish the conspiracy and financial trail.

Superintendent Shankar also provided an update on Raju, one of the directly involved accused. Raju sustained injuries during his arrest in a separate attempted murder case against government employees within the Byndoor police station limits. He is currently receiving treatment as an inpatient at the district government hospital and will be taken into custody for further interrogation upon his discharge.
