On the 14th, a devastating incident unfolded in Bengaluru’s Rajarajeshwari Nagar, where 32-year-old Sumanth Jain, a civil engineer from Belthangady, took the life of his 29-year-old wife Padmavathi before ending his own. The couple, residents of Yelaniru, Malavanthige village, Belthangady taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, had been living in Bengaluru for one and a half years. Sumanth and Padmavathi, who worked near Whitefield, had a love marriage just three years ago. However, their relationship took a tragic turn when a domestic dispute escalated into violence, resulting in Padmavathi’s murder. Following the incident, Sumanth sent a voice message to his mother, stating ‘I am dying’ and instructing her to claim his provident fund and household items. The Rajagopalanagar police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. An inspection of the crime scene has been conducted by the police and the Forensic Science Laboratory team, with the inquest and post-mortem examinations pending. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the importance of addressing domestic disputes before they turn fatal.
