The refinery said it will extend a cash assistance package of Rs 90 lakh to the bereaved relatives. In addition, the family will receive insurance payouts amounting to about Rs 10 lakh under the Group Term Life Insurance (GTLI) scheme and Rs 20 lakh through the Workmen Compensation Policy (WCP).
Combined, these components bring the total support to approximately Rs 1.20 crore, MRPL confirmed in its statement.
Separate from the immediate compensation, MRPL disclosed that a proposal for mediclaim coverage for its secondary workforce is being drafted. Discussions are underway with the Dakshina Kannada MP and the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, and the company expects the mediclaim arrangement to be finalised within roughly four weeks.
Reiterating its duty of care, MRPL stressed that safety, health and welfare remain top priorities for all personnel linked to its operations, and it will continue to extend all possible support to the affected family.
