On December 7, the Konkani Cultural Organization Trust (KCO) marked its Pearl Jubilee at the Cordel Grounds in Kulshekar, Mangaluru, with a spectacular musical evening titled Dabazo. The event commemorated 30 years of KCO’s dedication to uniting the Konkani community, preserving its culture and traditions, and supporting the underprivileged. The celebration began with a ceremonial procession featuring Bishop of Mangalore Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo and other distinguished guests, accompanied by a traditional brass band. Fr. Clifford Fernandes initiated the program with an invocation, followed by a captivating welcome dance presented by Remona Pereira and her team. Leo Rodrigues, Founder President of KCO, welcomed attendees and provided an overview of the organization’s activities over the past three decades. A Pearl Jubilee cake was cut by Dr. Gerald Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, alongside Leo Rodrigues and other dignitaries. The occasion honored former KCO Presidents, Secretaries, and Treasurers for their contributions. Nihal Tauro, a finalist from Sony TV Indian Idol 12, mesmerized the audience with his energetic performance, which included Hindi songs, Kannada and Konkani classics, and a Tulu track. The event was a resounding success, celebrating KCO’s contributions to the Konkani community and its commitment to humanitarian causes, with the organization having distributed Rs 5 crore to support those in need within Coastal Karnataka.
