Kapu will host the 8th Literary Conference of the Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kapu Taluk Unit, on 2 and 3 October in the auditorium of Kapu Government First Grade College, officials said as they released the official invitation card.
Municipal President Mohini Shetty Mallaru presided over the unveiling ceremony. She highlighted that this is the first time the Taluk Literary Conference is being organised at the Kapu Taluk centre and assured full municipal support to make the event a success. She called on residents, cultural groups and civic bodies to extend their cooperation.
District President Neelavara Surendra Adiga reminded the gathering that the state created 49 new taluks eight years ago, and Kapu Taluk Unit alone has consistently organised eight literary conferences since then. He praised the unit for maintaining this record.
Presiding over the program, B. Pundalika Marathe, President of the Kapu Taluk Unit, recounted the achievements of the previous seven conferences, describing each as a milestone under the guidance of their respective reception committees. He appealed to the Municipality, local religious organisations and social service groups to assist the current reception committee in delivering a meaningful programme.
Among the attendees were District Honorary Secretary Subramanya Shetty; district representatives Kattingeri Devadas Hebbar and Narasimhamurthy Manipal; Municipal Vice President Saritha; Municipal members Arun Shetty Padoor, Anil Kumar, Shailesh Amin, Shashikala, Vani Alva and Dinesh Golla; Kapu Hobli Revenue Inspector Shabbir; Sahitya Parishat Joint Secretary Krishnakumar Rao Mattu; members Bhaskara Kamath Katapadi, Madhukar S Kalya and Soumya Rakesh; as well as office staff and civic workers.
Ashwin Lawrence, Honorary Secretary of the Kapu Unit, welcomed the audience and acted as the program’s compere, setting the tone for two days of literary discussions, workshops and cultural performances.
