Penned and composed by Johnson Dias, a native of Kasarkod, Honnavar, in the Karwar Diocese, the song's release coincided with the joyous Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Family Feast, offering a melodious tribute to one of Bengaluru's most revered Marian shrines.
Produced under the banners of Victorious Creation and Grace Maria Productions, 'Preethiya Kadalu' embodies deep faith and devotion. Earlier in the week, Rev. Fr. Arockiasamy Sebastian, Parish Priest of St. Mary's Basilica, Shivajinagar, unveiled the official poster and announcement. Fr. Sebastian lauded the song's meaningful lyrics and tune, expressing his hope that it would resonate deeply with devotees and bring blessings to all listeners.
The devotional piece features the soulful voice of Rashmi Dharmendra from Mysuru, known as the second runner-up of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Kannada Season 21. A collaborative effort, the project brought together talented musicians and technicians from across South India: Vivek Sagar (Kunigal) directed the music, Vivek M. Varghese (Malappuram, Kerala) handled video editing, and Bryan Fernandes mixed and mastered the sound. Mithun (Kerala) contributed flute and veena, while John (Bhadravathi) played the keyboard. Recording took place at B Studio, Thiruvananthapuram, and Wilston Studios, Mysuru, with Godwin Castelino (AlfaGodwin) of AlfaGrafia, Bengaluru, coordinating media.
'Preethiya Kadalu' marks Johnson Dias's tenth devotional song. A devout member of St. Joseph's Church, his journey in devotional music began in 2019, deeply inspired by Mother Mary and the blessings he received through her intercession. He launched his YouTube channel, 'Victorious Creation,' with his first audio track, 'Neene Nanna Amma,' later adapting it into Konkani. Having composed for Mother of Kreupasanam, Harihar, and Velankanni in the past, Dias shared that his profound faith and specific devotion to Mother Mary of St. Mary's Basilica, Shivajinagar, inspired the creation of this special composition.
