The district experienced moderate rain in the morning, followed by a mix of sunshine and cloudy skies in the afternoon. The Meteorological Department reported an average of 73.3 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, with areas like Mangaluru, Bantwal, and Moodbidri receiving the highest rainfall. The water levels of major rivers, including the Netravati and Kumaradhara, have risen significantly. The district administration has warned residents in low-lying areas to relocate to safer areas and cautioned the public and tourists against venturing into riverbanks. Meteorologists predict good rainfall from July 4th to 10th, with high intensity in coastal areas and rough seas. Fishermen have been advised to stay off the sea, and disaster management teams are on standby as a precaution.
