Two workers died in an explosion at a Dakshin Energy unit in Parawada Industrial Park, Anakapalli district, early on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The deceased were identified as B. Trinadh, 24, from Jagannapeta in Atchutapuram mandal, and V. Venkatesh, 34, from Govada in Anakapalli. Both were on night shift when the blast occurred.
The explosion triggered a fire that sent thick smoke and flames into the sky, causing panic across the industrial area. Two fire tenders from the Pharma City fire station and one from Parawada reached the site quickly and brought the blaze under control. Cooling and clearing operations continued at the unit for several hours.
Anakapalli District Collector Vijaya Krishnan monitored the situation and directed officials to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby units. Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha arrived at the spot, reviewed conditions, and instructed police personnel to assist at the site.
The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) leader G. Satyanarayana expressed concern over repeated accidents in the industrial zone. He alleged that mishaps kept occurring at chemical and industrial units despite government assurances on safety, questioning the enforcement of regulations.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief and offered condolences to the families. He sought details from district officials and directed the administration to provide full support to those affected. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also asked for accident details from the Collector. He inquired whether the fire was under control and called for a review of preventive measures. Kalyan demanded an immediate safety audit at all units in industrial areas around Visakhapatnam and conveyed his condolences, stating the government would stand by the families.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said she was deeply shocked. She spoke by phone with the District Collector and Superintendent of Police to gather information and directed officials to speed up relief efforts.
