On July 9, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda visited AIIMS Bibinagar in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, where he acknowledged the institution’s emergence as a Centre of Excellence. Nadda commended the institute’s achievements in medical education, patient care, and research during his meeting with officials. The minister highlighted the Centre’s efforts to bolster healthcare infrastructure nationwide, citing the establishment of six AIIMS institutions during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure. Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, the Centre has sanctioned 23 AIIMS institutions, with 18 already operational. Nadda stated that 87% of AIIMS Bibinagar’s construction work has been completed within four years, with the remaining work expected to be finished by December. The institute currently registers around 1,800 outpatients daily, demonstrating growing public trust. Emergency care, MRI, and CT scan facilities are already operational, and the institute has provided healthcare services to over 1.56 lakh people through e-Consultation and telemedicine platforms. On the research front, the Centre has sanctioned grants worth Rs 64 crore, and 1,156 researchers have submitted applications. Nadda praised the institute’s community outreach initiatives, including a community radio station and rural healthcare initiatives, which have adopted six nearby villages and organised 547 medical camps. AIIMS Bibinagar has published over 1,000 research studies under 129 health-related projects, and two batches of MBBS students have graduated from the institute.
