Bengaluru police are intensifying their investigation into the gruesome murder of seven family members, focusing on the alleged involvement of a 17-year-old girl in assisting her father, cab driver Indushekar. Home Minister Priyank Kharge disclosed on Friday that the accused reportedly 'brainwashed' his daughter, making her an accomplice in the systematic killings that occurred over approximately 20 days.

Indushekar was arrested by Rajajinagar police following the discovery of the horrific crime, which stemmed from a domestic dispute. Among the seven victims are his wife and a seven-year-old boy named Puneeth, whose body was recovered near Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district. Authorities are conducting extensive search operations to locate the remaining bodies, which are believed to have been disposed of in various districts across Karnataka and even parts of Tamil Nadu, including Charmadi Ghat in the Mangaluru region.

The murders, which reportedly began on October 16, came to light belatedly. Kharge, speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, suggested the killings were pre-planned. He noted that preliminary findings indicate Indushekar used his daughter to contact and persuade family members to visit their house, allegedly even as the murders were being committed over the extended period. The 17-year-old, a Pre-University College student, is currently missing, and police have launched a search for her, having gathered information that she was seen near her residence in recent days.

Investigators found that the accused retained the victims' mobile phones after their deaths, using them to send messages that created a false impression among relatives that the family had gone on a trip. While Indushekar claims he was harassed by his wife's family and suffered from depression, Home Minister Kharge cautioned against premature conclusions regarding motive or mental state until the investigation concludes. He anticipates a clearer picture within two to three days.
