On Wednesday night, Karnataka Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh ordered a statewide increase in ticket prices for all four state‑run road transport corporations – BMTC, KSRTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC – with the new rates taking effect from midnight. The revision covers ordinary, express, luxury and air‑conditioned services and comes just before the Diwali holidays, when passenger traffic is expected to surge.

In Bengaluru, the BMTC minimum fare rises from Rs 6 to Rs 10, while the top fare climbs from Rs 35 to Rs 45. Travellers covering up to two kilometres will pay an extra Rs 4, those moving between two and four kilometres face a Rs 6 rise, and longer journeys see a maximum addition of Rs 12.

Airport shuttles under the Vayu Vajra brand will see increases ranging from Rs 5
