On Friday, October 23, 2026, the Kuwait Canara Welfare Association gathered at the Indian School of Excellence in Salmiya for an Extraordinary General Body Meeting aimed at approving a set of constitutional amendments.

The session began at 6:30 p.m. with an opening prayer led by Vinitha Pinto. KCWA President Prakash Godwin Pinto welcomed attendees, thanked the Constitution Amendment Committee for its thorough review of the existing charter, and acknowledged the continued support of the membership.

Rev. Fr. Darel Fernandes, parish priest of the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Arabia in Ahmadi, addressed the assembly, urging members to serve the community with kindness and celebrating the association’s 38 years of service.

Moderator Arun Jossy D’Souza introduced the amendment committee and handed the floor to Kevin D’Souza and Deepak Andrade, who outlined the proposed corrections. Smitha Suvarna, Veena Serrao, Tressy Cutinho and Reena Pereira read each current clause alongside its suggested revision, allowing members to compare the texts directly.

Members engaged in focused discussion, marking the first constitutional revision in a decade. A voice vote carried all proposals, indicating unanimous approval. The association set a 60‑day window, ending on December 22, 2026, for any further queries or suggestions.

The updated constitution is slated to become effective on February 19, 2027, a milestone that will shape KCWA’s governance going forward.

In parallel with the meeting, KCWA hosted an online Marian Quiz for Mangalorean Catholics aged ten and above residing in Kuwait. The quiz featured twenty questions about the Blessed Virgin Mary, attracted 120 entries, and saw 102 participants answer every question correctly.

A draw conducted by Rajesh Aranha, leader of the Salmiya Church Konkani Community and former KCWA General Secretary, together with President Prakash Pinto, selected the top three winners: Kevin Preetham D’Souza (first place), Ida Lobo (second place) and Reshma Maria D’Souza (third place). Prizes were handed out by Aranha.

During the proceedings, moderator Arun Jossy D’Souza welcomed newly registered member Prakash Pinto Mauris, and Tressy Cutinho moved the vote of thanks to conclude the gathering.
