On Oct 28 in Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada MP and BJP state secretary Brijesh Chowta said the recent Karnataka Legislative Council election, in which four seats were contested, delivered a decisive rebuke to the Congress government headed by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
Chowta highlighted that teachers and graduate voters overwhelmingly chose candidates of the NDA alliance, handing the coalition a clean sweep while the Congress failed to secure a single seat.
He reminded the opposition that the poll was conducted with ballot papers, not electronic voting machines, and warned Rahul Gandhi against dismissing the result as a technical glitch.
According to the BJP leader, the zero‑vote outcome for Congress reflects deep public frustration with what he described as a lack of development and an emptied state treasury since the party assumed power.
Chowta also criticised the chief minister's repeated claims of “no money” to address farmer distress, calling the situation an economic anarchy that has turned Karnataka, once a growth engine, into a state plagued by corruption and misgovernance.
Concluding his remarks, the MP said the election verdict is the educated society's answer to Congress's misinformation, attacks on constitutional institutions, and alleged looting of public funds.
