Mangaluru witnessed the official launch of the Bunt Sports Festival-2026 at Bunts Hostel, held in conjunction with the Public Ganeshotsava. Dr. Shivasharan Shetty, a distinguished member of the Dental Council of India and Managing Director of Namma TV Channel, formally inaugurated the event, emphasizing the community's strong sporting achievements and the festival's potential to unearth new talent.
Ajith Kumar Rai Malady, President of the Bunts Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha, who presided over the event, articulated the core purpose behind the gathering. He emphasized that the sports meet aimed specifically at cultivating unity and emotional harmony among all members of society, extending beyond just the Bunt community.
The day's events also featured former Ranji cricketer Rakshan Rai as a chief guest, who ceremonially flagged off the vibrant march past of the participating athletes. Entrepreneur Divakar Shetty from Latur, another chief guest, offered his sincere best wishes for a successful festival. Jayashila Adyanthaya Adyaruguthu, President of the Ganeshotsava Committee, also addressed the assembly, offering congratulations to the organizing committees for their commendable initiative.
The festival, a collaborative effort, was meticulously organized by the Bunts Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha, Sri Siddhivinayaka Pratishtana, and the Public Sri Ganeshotsava Committee. A host of dignitaries graced the occasion, including Dr. Ashajyothi Rai and Krishnaprasad Rai, both Trustees of Sri Siddhi Vinayaka Pratishtana. From the Bunts Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha, Secretary Karunakar Shetty and Joint Secretary Padmanabha Shetty were present, alongside Sadashivashetty Bijai, Secretary of the Ganeshotsava Committee. The formal program began with a prayer led by Anoop Shetty. Jagadish Shetty Bijai, convener of the Bunt Sports Meet, delivered the welcome address, setting a positive tone for the proceedings. Kiran Pakkala Permankiguthu, another convener, concluded the formalities with a vote of thanks, while Satish Shetty Kodialbail, coordinator of the Ganeshotsava Committee, expertly compered the entire event.
