Mangaluru, 6 September 2026 – Expert PU College at Kodialbail marked Teachers' Day with a ceremony that honoured the institution's teaching staff and highlighted their role in shaping young minds.
Dr Ravish Thunga, president of Dr Thunga's Manaswini Hospital, arrived as chief guest and was presented with the title Teacher Exemplary in recognition of his long‑standing commitment to education. Opening his speech with Gurubhyo Namaha, he praised the faculty for guiding students through a rapidly changing world and urged learners to combine effort with ambition.
The event began with the lighting of a lamp and a floral tribute to Dr S. Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers' Day across India. A group of students performed Guru Vandana, reciting the Sanskrit line Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Devo Maheshwara.
Chairman Prof Narendra L. Nayak described teachers as a real asset to society and expressed pride in the college' team. He recalled his long association with Dr Thunga and acknowledged the hospital's contributions to mental health care in Mangaluru. Emphasising discipline as the foundation of success, he linked the recent achievements of students in medical and government institutions to collective effort.
Vice Chairperson Dr Ushaprabha N. Nayak called teaching a lifestyle rather than a mere profession. She reminded the audience that one may retire from a job, but never from being a student, and asked students to respect teachers by listening, submitting work on time and recognising their dedication.
Coaching Head and Kannada lecturer Karunakar Balkur shared personal teaching experiences, urging students to value the sacrifices made by educators and to make the most of the opportunities offered by the college.
The programme was hosted by Khushi Singh and Shreya Hegde. Student Council President Sairaj K. Ghogare delivered the welcome address, while Secretary Priyaana P. Bekal offered the vote of thanks. Principal Ramachandra Bhat, IT director Ankush N. Nayak, architect Deepika A. Nayak, academic committee member B. Vinay Kumar, assistant coaching head Pramod Kini and other staff members attended.
Concluding remarks reinforced the lasting impact of teachers on students' confidence, values and future beyond the classroom.
