Udupi recently recognized 40 outstanding educators from across its five zones at the Adarsh Group Educational Institutions Complex on Alevoor Kemthur Road. The Udupi District Level Adarsh Teacher Award Ceremony, held this past Sunday in conjunction with Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birth anniversary, saw teachers from government, aided, unaided primary, high school, CBSE, and college departments honored for their significant contributions.
The event, a collaborative effort by the Udupi Adarsh Charitable Trust, Adarsh Group Institutions, Adarsh Hospital, and the Udupi District School Education Department, celebrated the pivotal role teachers play in societal development.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, inaugurating the program, lauded Udupi district's exceptional performance in the state's SSLC and PUC final examinations. He emphasized the significant contribution of educators in elevating the district's academic reputation and encouraged students to leverage a conducive environment for both learning and health. Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivasa Pujari echoed these sentiments, highlighting teachers' indispensable role in shaping student futures and attributing the success of achievers to their dedicated efforts.
Dr. G.S. Chandrasekhar, Medical Director of Udupi Adarsh Hospital and Chairman of Adarsh Group of Institutions, delivered an introductory address that underscored the critical link between health and education. He pointed out the alarming prevalence of health issues like obesity, with 14 percent of the population suffering from diabetes and 8 percent from heart disease. Dr. Chandrasekhar noted that changing lifestyles and dietary habits contribute to heart disease and cancer appearing at younger ages. He urged society to adopt ideal body weight and moderate, healthy food consumption, reiterating that teachers are crucial in building a healthy and educated community.
Among the notable dignitaries present were Udupi District Chief Executive Prateek Boyal, Additional District Collector Abid Gadyal, and School and Education Department Deputy Director Lokesh C. Also attending were Adarsh Hospital Chief Executive Vimala Chandrasekhar, Adarsh Institute of Allied Health Science and Paramedical Science Principal Dr. N.T. Venugopal, and Principal of the College of Nursing Prof. Sudina M. Anusree of Adarsh Hospital extended the vote of thanks, while Prashant Shetty Havanje competently narrated the program.
