Puttur City Police have initiated an investigation after registering a case against nine individuals for allegedly attempting to assault and verbally abuse political activist Abdul Hakeem Koornadka. The incident reportedly transpired near the Puttur Press Club on the afternoon of September 1st, prompting Hakeem to file a formal complaint on September 3rd.
Abdul Hakeem, a resident of Koornadka in Kemminje village, had arrived at the Press Club that day with the specific intention of holding a press conference. His objective was to publicly address and clarify certain allegations that had been circulating against him. However, according to Hakeem's detailed complaint, a group of individuals confronted him outside the premises before he could proceed with his conference. He specifically named Uday Patali, Junaid BG, Ishaq Salmara, Basheer Parladka, Hakeem Bolvaru, Monu Bappalige, Nashir Kolpe, and Praveen Acharya, along with others, as those who allegedly pushed him, subjected him to verbal abuse with obscene language, and issued direct life threats.
Hakeem further alleged that following the initial confrontation, after he managed to enter the Press Club for safety, the accused illegally prevented him from exiting the building, effectively confining him for a period. Due to the pain experienced from the alleged pushing and the overall distress, Abdul Hakeem has since sought medical attention and is currently admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.
Puttur City Police confirmed the registration of the case at the Puttur City Police Station under Cr. No. 105/2026. Law enforcement officials have invoked several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 127(2), 351(1), 351(2), 351(3), 352, 115, and 3(5). Authorities stated that a thorough investigation into the alleged incident is currently underway, examining all aspects of the complaint.
