On August 30, a series of events will commemorate the 172nd birth anniversary of Brahmashree Narayana Guru in Bantwal, featuring a Guru Pooja Utsav, scholarship distribution and the unveiling of a new public circle.

Harikrishna Bantwal, former president of the Bantwal Taluk Billava Samaj Seva Sangha, announced the programme during a press conference held on Thursday at the Bantwal Press Club. He detailed that devotional singing (Bhajana Sankeertane) will commence at 7 a.m. and continue until 8:30 a.m., followed by the main Guru Pooja and Maha Pooja.

At 10:30 a.m., the newly constructed “Brahmashree Narayana Guru Circle” situated in the heart of BC Road will be officially opened. The inauguration will be performed by D.K. MP Brijesh Chowta, while the meeting will be presided over by Bantwal Taluk Billava Sangha President Bhuvanesh Pachinadka.

Following the ceremony, a grand procession will escort dignitaries to the Brahmashree Narayana Guru Sabhabhavana in Ganadapaddavi. The afternoon programme includes a free screening of the Tulu film “Deyi Baidethi,” allowing the community to gather for cultural entertainment.

Among the invited guests are former Union Minister B. Janardhana Poojary, Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulipady, Sunil Kumar, former Minister B. Ramanath Rai, BUDA President Baby Kundar and Municipal Chief Officer K.B. Theerthaprasad. Their participation underscores the event's significance for the region.

The concept of the circle dates back to 2016, when the Bantwal Municipality passed a unanimous resolution to construct the “Brahmashree Narayana Guru Circle.” The recent inauguration fulfills that long‑standing municipal decision and adds a focal point for future celebrations.

Students from the local area will also receive scholarships during the day, reinforcing the association's commitment to education alongside spiritual observance.
