On the 80th Independence Day, Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar urged citizens to collaborate with the government to drive development and achieve an ambitious target of transforming the state into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. At the Manekshaw Parade Ground in Bengaluru, CM Shivakumar highlighted the importance of collective effort, stating that the state’s progress is closely tied to India’s growth. He announced various initiatives in Artificial Intelligence, agriculture, employment, infrastructure, water security, and social welfare.
Karnataka’s per capita income has reached Rs 4.33 lakh, and the state ranks second in GST and income-tax collections. The government aims to take the state’s economy to $3 trillion through investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, industry, and infrastructure. CM Shivakumar introduced initiatives such as introducing Artificial Intelligence in schools from Class 6, establishing an AI university in Bengaluru, and creating AI hubs across the state.
The government has begun filling 72,000 key vacancies in the government sector under the ‘Chief Minister Employment Sankalpa’ scheme. The ‘Udyoga Nidhi’ scheme will provide incentives to employers in backward districts for creating new jobs. The ‘Yuva Udyoga Sethu’ initiative will be launched for job seekers. CM Shivakumar also announced the ‘Chief Minister Raitha Chaitanya’ scheme to combine traditional farming knowledge with modern technology, providing real-time information through drones and satellite imagery.
Karnataka has approved 945 investment proposals worth over Rs 134 lakh crore in the past three years and attracted Rs 112 lakh crore in foreign direct investment. An Advanced Manufacturing Cluster will be established in Doddaballapur, with investment commitments of Rs 20,000 crore and an expected one lakh jobs. The government will also develop ring roads and mobility grids in towns and cities across the state, including a 117-km Bengaluru Business Corridor ring road project.
