The nomination papers were filed at the office of Assembly Secretary Vishalakshi in the Vidhana Soudha. Several prominent figures, including Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, Minister K.H. Muniyappa, and KPCC president B.K. Hariprasad, were present to support Patil. Around the same time, Congress MLC Salim Ahmed filed his nomination for the post of Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council, with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and other notable leaders in attendance. The election for this position is set to take place on Friday. Meanwhile, BJP MLCs convened a meeting under the leadership of Chalavadi Narayanaswamy to discuss the development and the upcoming election. Former Chairman Basavaraj Horatti recently expressed disappointment over the handling of his resignation, stating that he was compelled to sign the letter and had not received confirmation from the Governor. Horatti had planned to resign on a specific day but was not given the opportunity, leading to his current situation. He had served in the House for 46 years and was saddened by the state government’s actions. The former Chairman had discussed his resignation timing with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, aiming to avoid a confrontational situation.
