On Saturday, Karnataka Police registered an FIR against BJP MLC C.T. Ravi for allegedly delivering a hate speech during a protest in Chikkamagaluru. The protest was related to the NEET paper leak controversy. Ravi allegedly made remarks targeting the Muslim community, which were deemed provocative and disturbing to communal harmony. The FIR was filed by Mudassir Pasha, president of Jamia Masjid in Chikkamagaluru, following directions from the Principal Civil Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. The complaint states that Ravi questioned the involvement of Muslim leaders in the NEET protests, calling them illiterate and anti-national. Ravi also allegedly linked the protests to the CAA and NRC, claiming that those opposing these policies were participating in the protests. The Karnataka State Muslim Federation has condemned Ravi’s remarks, demanding his immediate arrest for attempting to spread hatred between communities. The Federation believes that the BJP is trying to communalize the NEET issue, and Ravi’s statements were inappropriate and undignified. The FIR has been registered under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case is currently being investigated by the Chikkamagaluru Town Police.
