NTA Allots Abu Dhabi Exam Center for Nagpur NEET-UG Student — Again

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has once again landed in a fix ahead of the NEET-UG re-examination after a Nagpur-based student received an admit card listing an exam center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The student, whose re-examination is scheduled for Sunday, does not even possess a passport.

The error came to light when the student's parents raised an alarm. Father Muhammad Talib said the family was shocked to see 'Indian School of Abu Dhabi' on the admit card. "We are not able to send our child abroad. He doesn't have a passport, and there is no time to make travel arrangements," Talib told reporters.

The student had originally chosen Nagpur as his first preference during application, followed by Wardha and Bhandara. For the May 3 NEET-UG exam, Saraswati Vidyalaya in Nagpur was allotted. That exam was canceled on May 12 after a question paper leak controversy.

When the family downloaded the admit card for the re-examination, the foreign location appeared instead. They lodged a complaint through the NTA helpline. The agency reportedly admitted the mistake, attributing it to a technical error, and assured them a revised admit card with a local center would be issued soon.

Former Maharashtra Education Minister Anees Ahmed condemned the incident, calling it a serious lapse on part of the examination body. He demanded that the student be allowed to write the exam in Nagpur or a nearby center.

This is not the first time the NTA has faced flak for center allotment errors. With the re-examination just days away, the affected family remains anxious about whether the corrected admit card will arrive in time.
