On Wednesday, NCP(SP) working president and MP Supriya Sule held a press conference in Mumbai to address speculation surrounding her party’s stance on the Central Government’s upcoming Delimitation Bill. Sule categorically denied rumors that the party would support the Bill, terming them entirely baseless. She clarified that the party has not received any proposal regarding the Bill and will study the draft before declaring their official stance within 24 hours of its tabling.

Sule also refuted reports claiming her party was aligning with the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or Mahayuti in Maharashtra. Critics and political observers had framed this as a potential step by Sharad Pawar towards joining the NDA in the state. Sule stated that the party has not made any official statement on the Delimitation Bill, and everything being reported is based on unnamed sources.

To prevent confusion among party workers and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) allies, Sule had spoken with Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, state chief Shashikanth Shinde, as well as MLAs and MPs. She had also reached out to Congress state leadership and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut to reassure them. Sule emphasized that the party has received no deal or proposal regarding the Delimitation Bill and will announce their position within 24 hours of the draft being presented.

Sule also addressed rumors that the Sharad Pawar faction might formally join the NDA, stating that the party has received no proposal and remains firmly committed to working for the people. She cleared the air regarding Sharad Pawar’s recent presence in Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s cabin, explaining that it was due to Pawar’s inability to walk long distances. Sule concluded by advising the media to rely only on official statements rather than speculative sources.
