On Tuesday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara stated that strict legal action will be taken if the recent violence during the Bidadi Township Project protests is found to be politically motivated or unlawful. In Bengaluru, Parameshwara emphasized that citizens have the right to express their opinions and stage peaceful protests, but attacks on officials will not be tolerated. The warning comes after farmers and women protesters clashed with government officials conducting a land survey for the proposed project on Monday. The confrontation resulted in the registration of FIRs against the farmers for attacking officials with stones and brooms. Parameshwara assured that the government will act in accordance with the law and make efforts to explain the necessity of the project to the public. Additionally, he announced the establishment of ‘Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas’ across Karnataka to promote leadership qualities and community participation among young people. The initiative, which will be implemented through various government departments, aims to empower youth and promote national unity. Each ‘Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha’ will receive an annual grant of Rs 10 lakh and will be entrusted with promoting sports, cultural activities, and community service. The government is prepared to spend up to Rs 1,000 crore on youth empowerment if required.
